Cerro Catedral is not a resort in the American sense. It's a cathedral of granite, wind, and lenga forests, over Lake Nahuel Huapi. The largest ski area in the Southern Hemisphere, but unmistakably Argentine: the lifts creak, the refugios pour wine at noon, and everyone on the chair has an opinion.
Our team was forged there. Skiing after school. Teaching their siblings. Competing in club races. And eventually certifying through PSIA to bring that foundation to Colorado.
Then came Colorado.
A Patagonian instructor lives summers in reverse: when Bariloche melts in October, the Rockies are just waking up. For decades, this seasonal migration has brought South American instructors to Colorado.
We worked at the big ski schools. We learned the American system. We earned our certifications. And we noticed something: the Mexican and Latin American families visiting these resorts deserved a better experience. Someone who understood the language, the pace, the cultural nuance of learning together as a family.
